moving by beth paden boyd.

Excitement and sadness, I’m feeling alone

I’m packing my feelings as I’m packing my home

I’m letting go of security’s hand

I’m heading off to a foreign land.

Teardrops of memories of years gone by

Toys we once treasured now on the shelf lie

The laughter, the songs, the dances we danced

The places where kings and princesses pranced.

Sisters in bed after lights were out

Sharing secrets and fantasies and what dreams were about

Folding the covers and packing away

Tucking the memories, we shared in that day.

The walls now bare where the pictures once hung

Reminders of friends and the goofy things done

A ring in cotton in a box on the chair

A gift from my friend, a happiness shared.

I question the move

I question the season

I question my heart

I question the reason.

I sit and wonder how Christ must have felt

Leaving the Father and the place where He dwelt

He came down to earth to wash away sin

He moved here for me, so I’ll move there for Him.
