may 2022.

I am writing this from Canada! I arrived less than 12 hours ago, so I am praying for the jetlag not to be so bad. So far, so good! I am so excited to spend the summer in Canada reunited with family and friends! Here are some of the highlights from the month of May.

As it was the last month of school, the school calendar was filled with events! One of the first ones was hosting a Mother’s Day tea. The students and I prepared treats, signs, gifts, and tea for mothers to come and enjoy. It was a fun opportunity for the students to not only love on their moms, but practice their hosting skills. I was so proud of these sweet students and their willingness to bless others.

Some other fun activities that happened this month were completing our novel study, learning about moon phases (with Oreos of course), sports day, student showcase, and going on a field trip! I was reminded of the blessing it is to go on field trips in Kenya as the students were able to walk alongside a baby giraffe on our safari nature walk! What an experience.

Another fun tradition that I brought from last year was to have year end parties with my students off campus. On one of the last Saturdays before summer break, my teaching partner and I held a girls party at my house in the morning consisting of games, painting nails, and treats and a boys party at a park in the afternoon filled with soccer, ice cream, and Twister. It was such a special time to spend some quality time together, reflect, and pray for the upcoming summer and new grade. I am so thankful to had a small class size this year. I think this might have been one of the sweetest years for me in this profession so far (year four done!).

My precious 3 girls.

Yet, now here I am back in wonderful Canada. I can’t even describe how good it feels to be in familiar contexts after 2 years of being away. It is an interesting feeling to have your heart and home in two places… across the world! But, I am so thankful that I have such special people in both places. I might miss my daily Kenyan breakfast of avocado toast, but must admit, I am so excited to be back in the land of Tim Hortons. 🙂

If you would like to connect with me while I am here this summer, here are some options for you:

-Tuesday, June 7th- 10am- Sharing at Women’s Prayer Group at Trailview

-Saturday, June 18th- 7pm- Dessert Night Fundraiser at Trailview

-In BC, the week of June 26th, message me if you want to meet up!

I am looking forward to all God has in store for this summer! Thank you for journeying with me these past 2 years! It’s time for a sweet season of reunion. 🙂
