september 2021.

Another month done! It feels like this year is flying. In just 3 months it will be a new year! I really enjoyed this past month. God had a lot of fun planned for me with work and in ministry. I really enjoy the group of children that God has placed in my care this year. I think it will be the smallest class I will ever teach, so I am soaking it up! One of my absolute favourite parts of the school day is the beginning because my students and I start each day doing devotions. We spend time in worship, prayer, and reading scripture, then I teach the day’s Bible lesson. We have been learning about John the Baptist, the disciples, and Jesus’ ministry on earth. I love all of the big questions that the students have. Trying to unpack the elements of the Trinity and how Jesus can be both fully God and fully man, was so fun! I will never take for granted the privilege it is to teach my students about Jesus EVERY DAY!

This month at school, we had spirit week and it was so fun to see the students dress up for the different day’s themes. See the pictures below of some of the fun! I praise God again and again for the gift it is to be on campus this year and not behind a screen!

Culture Day with my fellow Canadian!

Teachers love a good jean jacket!

This month, I had the opportunity to invite one of my market friends to church! Praise God. I am so thankful that I was able to bring them to family church. It was so fun seeing my friend enjoy the children-centered worship time with her two sweet kiddos. What a gift it was to see the genuine joy in their faces. I thank God for forming this relationship and the opportunity to love on this momma and her littles. After the service, I took the three of them for lunch and we were able to talk about the sermon and what she thought. She said she would come every week if she could! How awesome?! I pray that she is able to come back again this Sunday! It’s fun for me to feel like an Auntie again!

Enjoying church!
Fitting right into kid’s church!

This month was also filled with some more adventures. My new teaching partner has only been in the country for two months and loves to explore like I do, so we have been enjoying seeing more of Nairobi together. I am so glad God brought her here. Her friendship has been such a blessing to me.

I also have been able to host some Saturday games nights this month. I love being able to use my lovely little suite to bring people together. I have enjoyed getting to know more people from my church and community here. This past Saturday I taught some of my Kenyan friends how to play “Spoons.” That was really fun!

I am excited to share with you about an exciting some new ministry opportunities that have arose for me to be part of next month! I look forward to sharing them with you!

Praise item…. My parents booked their flights to come visit at Christmas!!!! I am sooo excited and am already counting down the days. Please continue praying that they would be able to arrive in December without any complications or unforeseen lockdowns and quarantines.

Please continue praying for my market friends and their faith. Pray that the Holy Spirit would give me the words to share with them about God’s unending love for them.

Please continue to pray for my sweet students and their hearts. My deepest desire is that they walk away from my class knowing that they are fully seen, known, and loved by their Maker. I truly love going to work every day and constantly thank God for giving me my dream job. This is such a gift.

Picture Day!

PS Thank you to those of you who have been asking about my Masters courses. They are going well! It’s hard to believe that after Christmas, I will be halfway through my program already! Woohoo! It has definitely been a lot of work, but the Lord is helping me through it. I have found a good rhythm to balance my work, school, ministry, and personal life, but prayer for this area is always welcomed. Thank you for your continued prayers and support. To God be the glory. Amen!
